The Boise Bombers finished third place at the Matt Reynolds Memorial Tournament in Irving, Texas to bring home their first piece of hardware. It was a bittersweet victory for yours truly as I started playing rugby in Dallas, Texas back in 2008. This was our second time attending the Matt Reynolds Memorial Tournament, last year we didn't fare so well we won only one game beating San Antonio's B team by 1 point. This year we started out pretty well all though we did lose to TIRR in the first game and we were with out Kory Puderbaugh for day one. The second game we played my old team the North Texas Cowboys. We rallied together in the first half, fighting for a nail biting 1 point lead. The second half was all Bombers and we finish the game 55 - 47. Day two started with a game against the Texas Stampede B team led by the all-tournament 3.0 Mason Symons. Kory Puderbaugh arrived for the remainder of the tournament and he was an immeasurable force against the Stampede. His agility and speed was too much for the Stampede to handle and we beat them by 14 points, we finished the game 55 - 41. In the late game we played the Switzerland national team, by the end of a tough first quarter we were only down by three. By the end of the game they proved to be too much to handle, they racked up the points and beat us by a whopping 71 - 34. The Switzerland boys were pretty good. So going to into Sunday's game we were 2 and 2 up against the Edmonton Steel Wheels (2 -2) to fight for third place. We played these boys in Reno back in October and lost by 7 points so it was our time for redemption and to bring home the hardware. The game was pretty tight all the way through but the Boise Bombers held on to the lead to achieve the most exciting win in the Boise Bombers history. The final score was 55 - 52. Everyone on the Boise Bombers team has worked extremely hard and has made huge improvements. Our new coach, Ana Mimani has picked up the game quickly and is a major factor in the growth of our team. I cant express how thankful and proud I am of our team, they all have stepped up their game! I also want to give a shout out to Stuart Larimore, my dad, for fixing countless flat tires and broken rugby equipment. Big thanks to all of our volunteers, sponsors and fans! Without you there would be no us. Next stop is Sectionals Feb 21-23 in Tacoma, Washington, Go Bombers!
