The third annual Toys for Tots Rugby Bash had the best turn out yet! The Boise Bombers and the Boise Parks and Recreation Adventure Seekers Program were host to this years event with the Nemesis Women's Rugby Team, The BSU Rugby Club, Snake River Rugby Team, and the 43rd Crimson Lions Rugby Team. It was quite the event with four games of wheelchair rugby and more than 250 toys donated to Toys for Tots. It's almost hard to believe that this is the third year we have hosted this event. Each year it gets bigger and better with more fans, teams, and Toys. This was the first year that the 43rd Crimson Lions came out to play. I had run into some of their players at The Lift bar and grill a few months back. They asked me about wheelchair rugby and if they could play in the Christmas game. I have to say its pretty cool to see the popularity of our sport rise and have recognition from other athletes like this. A few of our players even had some good smack talk on the old Facebook with some of the Snake River players who have been playing in this game from the start. These games have created some great comradery, friendships as well as some great competition. The following weekend we had several of the Lions and BSU players return to the court for a full two and a half hour practice. It was a blast and helped our team work on our lineups. We would like to thank all of the volunteers, organizers, fans, refs, and players that helped make this event possible.
